Finding Happiness

Through *Finding Happy*, the Albatross Foundation aims to bring to life its vision for an 18th Sustainable Development Goal: “Respect and Goodwill for Humanity and Beyond, ” dedicated to respect and kindness toward oneself, others, and the planet. From illustrated books to new digital and animated experiences, this project combines psychology, education, and innovation to help young people develop their self-confidence, well-being, and openness toward others.

Finding Happy: Learning to Feel Good About Yourself and Others

Created by Professor Ellen Langer, a psychology professor at Harvard and a pioneer in mindfulness research, *Finding Happy* is an illustrated book for children ages 10 and up. Through a playful and accessible story, it gives them tools to get to know themselves better, live more fully in the present, build their self-confidence, and cultivate kindness toward themselves and others.

Inspired by the work of Ellen Langer, *Finding Happy* offers an approach to mindfulness based on curiosity, open-mindedness, and the ability to view situations from different perspectives. At the heart of the book is the GLADO approach —Generous, Loving, Authentic, Direct, Open —which encourages young people to approach life with empathy and authenticity.

To make *Finding Happy* accessible to as many people as possible, the book has been translated into 15 languages and formats, including sign language and Braille. It is also available as narrated flipbooks, offering a lively and interactive reading experience.

Currently available for purchase in French, English, Chinese, Portuguese, and Spanish on our Create2Donate platform, Finding Happy continues to pursue its goal of making wellness education accessible to young people around the world.

A Launch Event at UNESCO to Share a Common Vision

In October 2025, Finding Happy was officially launched at UNESCO headquarters in Paris during an event organized by the Albatross Foundation in partnership with Harvard University.

This event brought together researchers, artists, educators, and civil society leaders to explore a common question: How can we place respect, kindness, and well-being at the heart of the education of future generations?

In addition to the book presentation, this event also served as an opportunity to open a dialogue on the proposal for a future 18th Sustainable Development Goal: Respect and Goodwill for Humanity and Beyond.

This is an opportunity to remind ourselves that taking care of ourselves, understanding others, and respecting our planet are all essential aspects of a sustainable future.

A New Interactive Experience Powered by Delphi AI

At the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, Finding Happy reached a new milestone with the unveiling of Professor Ellen Langer’s digital twin, developed with the support of Delphi AI.

Using artificial intelligence, this experience allows young people to interact with a digital representation of the professor and, through conversation, explore ideas drawn from her work on mindfulness.

The goal is to extend the reading experience by offering a more personal and interactive experience, while encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and the discovery of new perspectives.

From Book to Screen: The First Attempts at an Animated Film

What if the illustrations from *Finding Happy* could, in turn, come to life?

The Albatross Foundation is now exploring this new creative direction with Hugo, a student at ISART Digital and an intern at the Foundation.

Using the book’s original illustrations, Hugo created his first animation experiments, gradually bringing the characters and settings of *Finding Happy* to life.

These first episodes are, above all, experiments that allow us to imagine how the world of the book might one day extend to the screen.
