Permaculture day with Noise emlyon students

On Sunday March 16, 2025, Noise emlyon students took part in a training day dedicated to sustainable agriculture, forestry and biodynamics, in the presence of Karl and Amandine Cheminal, organic farmers wishing to adapt their breeding to biodynamics, and Florent Tatin, forester.

Morning: discovering biodynamic farming

The morning began with a theoretical session on the concept of biodynamics as applied to cattle breeding. Karl and Amandine explained how they had decided to rethink their cattle-raising methods and make them more respectful of the living world. According to the Mouvement de L’Agriculture Bio-Dynamique (MABD ), biodynamic farming is based on a holistic vision of agriculture, enabling us to rethink the relationship between man and living organisms.

One technique is to work the soil according to the lunar calendar, explained in the eponymous book that Karl and Amandine brought along.

The morning concluded with a demonstration of the “horn dung” technique, a biodynamic technique used to revitalize soils, for example.

Afternoon: theoretical and practical workshop on planting hedges and trees resistant to climate change.

Silviculturist Florent Tatin lent his expertise, explaining the role of trees in ecosystems and the dangers of monocultures. It’s important for spaces to host a variety of flora to benefit from a richer, more resilient biodiversity.

The students then planted a hedge made up of different species of trees and bushes in the estate garden. This involved digging up the soil, planting the seedlings, covering them with fine earth and tamping them down.

A few words of thanks

Noise emlyon would like to thank Ghislaine Bouillet and the Albatross Foundation for organizing this event and welcoming the students to the Domaine du Buis. We would also like to thank the speakers:
