On Thursday March 13, 2025, a training day dedicated to sustainable agriculture brought together students and supervisors from the Lycée du Forez around practical planting and garden maintenance activities.
A morning dedicated to planting
Participants began the day by preparing clods of soil for future seedlings. The process began by mixing potting soil with water, bearing in mind that potting soil can absorb up to eight times its volume in water. Two clod-makers were used: one to form small clods, the other for larger ones. Once the clods were ready, planting began.

Planting onions
For the onions, it was necessary to dig small holes spaced 5 cm apart in a mixture of soil, horse dung and straw. The bulbs were then placed in the holes, pointing upwards.

Sieving
Some seeds needed to be sieved before being planted. This step made it possible to obtain a more homogeneous substrate adapted to the needs of the different varieties grown.
A commitment to respectful agriculture

This day enabled students from the Lycée du Forez to experiment with environmentally-friendly techniques and reinforce their knowledge of sustainable agriculture. A great initiative to raise young people’s awareness of responsible, sustainable agricultural practices.
