First day of training 2025-2026 at the Albatross Foundation with Lycée du Forez

The first training day of the year 2025-2026 was held on Thursday November 6, 2025 at the Albatross Foundation, in partnership with the students of the Lycée du Forez.
This day of learning and sharing enabled participants to discover the principles of sustainable development through activities linked to agriculture and topography.

Morning – Winterizing the soil in the educational garden

The morning was devoted to preparing the educational garden for winter.
The students, divided into three groups, worked on :

  • collection of organic matter,
  • collection of carbonaceous matter,
  • aeration and soil preparation.

Using a grelinette, the soil was first aerated, then covered with organic and carbonaceous matter (horse dung and dead leaves), before being protected by a layer of straw.
This work, inspired by the compost principle, helps nourish the earth, protect biodiversity and prepare for future quality harvests.

A presentation by Aurélien Adam, a market gardener at the Oasis farm, gave students a valuable insight into organic farming and ecosystem preservation, reminding them of the importance of understanding and respecting natural cycles.

Afternoon – Involvement of a surveyor

In the afternoon, students attended a presentation by Thomas Pigeon, a land surveyor, who explained the fundamentals and challenges of his profession.
Using an automated laser device, he demonstrated how topography enables land to be measured and modeled in three dimensions, an essential skill for any construction project.
This presentation enabled students to discover a technical and scientific profession closely linked to regional planning.
