Participants began the day by preparing clods of soil for future seedlings. The process began by mixing potting soil with water, bearing in mind that potting soil can absorb up to eight times its volume in water. Two clod-makers were used: one to form small clods, the other for larger ones. Once the clods were ready, planting began. <\/p>\n\n For the onions, it was necessary to dig small holes spaced 5 cm apart in a mixture of soil, horse dung and straw. The bulbs were then placed in the holes, pointing upwards. <\/p>\n\n Some seeds needed to be sieved before being planted. This step made it possible to obtain a more homogeneous substrate adapted to the needs of the different varieties grown. <\/p>\n\n This day enabled students from the Lyc\u00e9e du Forez to experiment with environmentally-friendly techniques and reinforce their knowledge of sustainable agriculture.
