At the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, Victoria Alexander arrives with a dream: to find the partners who will help her bring her short film, *La Cinqui\u00e8me Corde*<\/em>, to life. After handing out a thousand flyers on the Croisette, one of them finds its way into the hands of Ghislaine Bouillet-Cordonnier. This encounter marks the beginning of a new adventure blending cinema, music, and reflections on human relationships. <\/p>\n\n

A screenplay, 1,000 flyers, and a dream in Cannes<\/h3>\n\n

Even before Cannes, *La Cinqui\u00e8me Corde*<\/em> had already begun to make a name for itself: its screenplay had been selected as a finalist in the \u201c\u00c0 Travers Elles\u201d competition. But for Victoria Alexander, the project\u2019s director, it was now time to move from the page to the screen. <\/p>\n\n

She then went to the Cannes Film Festival with a very specific goal in mind: to promote her project, meet a producer, and find partners who could help her make her short film, in the hope of one day being able to present it at Cannes.<\/p>\n\n

To set up this meeting, Victoria didn’t come empty-handed: she printed 1,000 flyers promoting *La Cinqui\u00e8me Corde*<\/em> and handed them out on the Croisette.<\/p>\n\n

It was there that she met Ghislaine Bouillet-Cordonnier<\/strong>, founder of the Albatross Foundation. The project caught her attention not only because of its artistic vision, but also because of the human issues it raises and how they align with Albatross\u2019s commitment to well-being and mental health. <\/p>\n\n

Ghislaine then decided to take on the challenge and introduced Victoria to Michel Kadic, producer and president of the TRYPTIK art studio<\/strong>, marking a new phase in the film’s development.<\/p>\n\n

How can we describe the world Victoria has imagined?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Whiplash,” but with a female lead.“Black Swan,” but directed by a woman.“Amadeus,” but with a romantic rivalry in which she is the better artist.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

*The Fifth String*<\/em> is a 15-minute short film that explores power dynamics in intimate relationships<\/strong>, set against the backdrop of the demanding world of classical music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Camelia and Nathan are two talented young people. They share the same passion, an intimate relationship\u2026 but also the same ambition. Camelia, a young violinist on the rise, learns she is pregnant just as her career is taking off. This news upends an already fragile balance: Nathan, her partner, is also her biggest competitor for the highly coveted position of concertmaster. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But when a moment of vulnerability undermines Camelia’s position, Nathan finds himself faced with an opportunity that could redefine everything: their careers, their balance, and their relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Straddling the line between love, ambition, and rivalry, *La Cinqui\u00e8me Corde*<\/em> explores the power dynamics between men and women within a couple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How far are we willing to go when the person we love is also the one we must surpass?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

When Music Brings People Together<\/h3>\n\n

In this world where the violin plays a central role, Albatross wanted to introduce Victoria to Erica Hyowon Jang<\/strong>, a Korean violinist and volunteer with the Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Music has been a part of Erica\u2019s life from the very beginning. Trained in South Korea, London, the United States, and France, she has built an international career as a violinist, performing in orchestras, as a soloist, and in chamber music ensembles. Notably, she served as concertmaster of the Brussels Philharmonic<\/strong> and has performed on numerous stages across Europe and Asia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But her career has never been limited to performance. Throughout her experience as a musician and educator, Erica has been interested in what music can teach us about learning, psychology, and human development<\/strong>. This line of inquiry led her to earn a Master of Education from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education<\/strong>, where she studied cognitive neuroscience and psychology, among other subjects, before going on to pursue a Master\u2019s degree in Applied Neuroscience at King\u2019s College London<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A journey at the intersection of music and humanity that Albatross sought to connect with the world of *La Cinqui\u00e8me Corde*<\/em> by introducing Erica to Victoria and paving the way for a potential collaboration on the project.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

When Movies Spark a Conversation About Mental Health<\/h3>\n\n

La Cinqui\u00e8me Corde<\/em> caught Albatross’s attention partly because, behind Camelia and Nathan’s story, there are questions that extend far beyond their relationship.<\/p>\n\n

How do we feel about others’ success? Why can comparing ourselves to others undermine our self-esteem? What happens when roles and power dynamics shift within a relationship? <\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n

Through love, ambition, and rivalry, the film thus prompts a broader reflection on human relationships, perceptions of oneself and others, and emotional well-being\u2014topics that resonate with the Foundation\u2019s initiatives focused on mental health.<\/p>\n\n

With this in mind, a collaboration is now being considered between Victoria Alexander, the Albatross Foundation, and Delphi AI<\/strong>, centered on the digital twin of Professor Ellen Langer<\/strong>, a professor of psychology at Harvard and a pioneer in mindfulness research.<\/p>\n\n

The goal: to expand on the questions raised by the film and encourage discussion<\/strong> by bringing together artistic creation, reflections on mental health, and new technologies.<\/p>\n\n

A way to extend the themes of *La Cinqui\u00e8me Corde*<\/em> beyond the screen and spark a broader conversation about our relationships, our perceptions, and how we grow alongside one another.<\/p>\n\n

An adventure to follow<\/h3>\n\n

Since distributing<\/strong> those 1,000 flyers on the Croisette<\/strong>, La Cinqui\u00e8me Corde<\/em> has continued on its path.<\/p>\n\n

The project currently brings together Victoria Alexander, Michel Kadic, and TRYPTIK, the Albatross Foundation, and Erica Jang, as well as explorations into a future collaboration with Delphi AI and Ellen Langer\u2019s digital twin.<\/p>\n\n
