Regional Science Magazine Club – Shanghai American School

WHO WE ARE

Regional Science Magazine Club, an academic and a service-oriented student-led club at Shanghai American School, is composed of high school student writers who are passionate and are willing to share their scientific knowledge with the underprivileged local community. Each writer focuses on a specific topic in the field of sciences, does a little research on their topic, and writes an article about it in Chinese. The main target audience is local migrant school elementary school students.

Regional Science Magazine Club was founded in January of 2012, has recruited 9 writers, and published its inaugural issue in February with the title of 科学好朋友 (Science Buddy), having a total of 5 issues so far.

Science Buddy is published monthly in hard copy and distributed free-of-charge to 3 institutions in total: Qing Pu and Old Qing Pu migrant schools, and CereCare, a rehabilitation center for children with cerebral palsy.

Albatross Foundation is sponsoring this initiative of high school students which is consistent with Albatross missions.
